Welcome Gala I see you will enjoy many many hours here... These people are great! thumbs_up.gif

Thanks! I feel right at home already! I came across the site while surfing the Wilton site. I live in a tiny town in northern Alberta, Canada and there are no craft supply stores, decorating courses or anything unless I travel 5 hrs to the city...so this place is going to be a big help. I've been self-teaching and 'borrow' most of my ideas from the Wilton yearbooks and change them here and there. I can't wait to try cali4dawn's buttercream transfer!

Hi Welcome galaglow!! icon_smile.gif

emi Posted 30 Mar 2005 , 3:44am

Hi and welcome galaglow.
I agree with you. This is a great site, and what makes it even greater are the members who are so helpfull and share everything. I have the time to go on it only twice a day. In the afternoon when my 21 month old daughter takes a nap, and at night, after I put her down to sleep.
I've learned so much from this site, have never taken any decorating classes, enjoy testing and tasting everything, and am hungry to learn even more ( in case I decide to go into it as a profession later on )
Take care - Emi

welcome galaglow!! don't feel bad, i don't have any stores here or taken any classes either. there are a lot a self-taught decorators!!

flayvurdfun Posted 30 Mar 2005 , 12:56pm

Yes sir, being overseas is not what it is cracked up to be, but I am glad we made it here, in spite of no craft stores, or cake stuff! Can't wait until our return back to the good ole USA usaribbon.gifthumbs_up.gif

CarolAnn Posted 30 Mar 2005 , 7:42pm

So flayvurdfun, how long are you over there for? Do you have family in the states that sends you supplies or do you have to make due with what you can find over there? Just curious. Going to Hobby Lobby, Michael's or George's isn't just down the road for me but they're within an hour anyway. Can't imagine being cut off completely.

diane Posted 30 Mar 2005 , 8:37pm

welcome galaglow!! well, the first thing you need to do is get lisa the avatar queen to get you a new avatar...not that there's anything wrong with the one you have now. she just finds these cute ones for everyone that are animated!

flayvurdfun Posted 30 Mar 2005 , 8:49pm

Hello Carolann
Yes my mother will send me anything from the states no matter what it is. But since I dont do alot of decorating I get most from wilton, or I hope that BXs carry some things....
We have been here 2 1/2 years... we leave in late July to go to Langley Virginia for a year, and then my husband hopes to retire....not sure where yet but at least I can see the light! icon_wink.gif
I can't wait to get around a Hobby Lobby. I have never heard of one until this site. There is so much I am missing being here!!!!

KATE39 Posted 31 Mar 2005 , 12:05am

WHAT IS A HOBBY LOBBY? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT BEFORE. WELCOME GALAGLOW! GLAD TO HAVE YOU ABOARD.

nashsmom Posted 31 Mar 2005 , 12:07am

briansbaker Posted 31 Mar 2005 , 12:32am
