Anyone Make Strawberry Pretzel Dessert?
Decorating By midwestmom Updated 28 Mar 2005 , 5:02am by tcturtleshell
You know the dessert with the crushed pretzels for crust, cream cheese middle & strawberry jello top? The pretzel crust is supposed to be crunchy & the strawberry jello is supposed to stay on top. Well I made it for Easter & the strawberry jello sank to the bottom & made the pretzel crust soggy
Any ideas on how to prevent this?
Did you bake the crust before adding the balance? My recipe calls for baking the pretzel crust for 10 minutes at 350* and cool before adding the balance.
I don't know if it is on here or not but I can certainly give it to you, as well as submit it to Cakecentral! Just let me know!
I've made that salad/desert many times and never had the jello go to the bottom. I just looked at my recipe and it doesn't have you cool the jello/strawberry mixture before adding to the top of the dish. So I guess I'm no help either. Sorry.

Strawberry Pretzel Dessert
Ingredients:
6 oz strawberry Jell-O
2 cup boiling water
3 cups fresh sliced strawberries
1 cup cold water
2 3/4 cup crushed pretzel sticks
3 Tbs. sugar
1 stick butter, melted
8 oz cream cheese
3/4 cup sugar
Large size cool whip
Method:
Dissolve Jell-O with boiling water. Add strawberries; mix till strawberries have dissolved if using frozen berries. Add cold water. Refrigerate till slightly thickened.
Mix the 3 tbs. of sugar, pretzels and melted butter. Press into 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350. Allow to cool.
Blend cream cheese and sugar. Add cool whip; mix well. Spread this mixture onto cooled crust. Pour Jell-O on top of cream cheese mixture. Chill until fully set, at least 4 hours or overnight. This is a great recipe!
I cooled the pretzel crust, but not the strawberry/jello mixture. This is only the second time I've made it & the first time it turned out great. It's so delicious because the pretzel crust is salty & crunch & is so delicous with the cream cheese layer & the jello layer. Don't know what happned this time!!
I just noticed the second recipe I have calls for the jello to be refrig. a little. I will probably try that next time.
Thanks midwest mom~ I will try it! I love a sweet/salty taste!! YUMMY!!!!
Thanks MrsMissey for wanting to help
