They usually use the silver or gold plateaus for those, that's what I've seen anyway.....................

This stand looks custom made.Probably acrylic rings underneath each tier.

are you asking about what kind of base the whole cake is sitting on or what kind of stand the entire cake is using? (i.e. between the pillars, too).

I would think for a cake like that, you could use regular square plates and the hidden pillars from Wilton. That way it has stability but gives you the room you would need for the roses. As far as the stand for the very bottom, it looks to me like a regular board (you could use plywood covered in contact paper) with maybe fondant or something on it to match the design of the cake.

So is there just one pillar that goes down the middle of all the cakes?

With the hidden pillars, it would be four under each tier. You would use the regular plates with the little nubs that fit into the pillars. Then the pillars go all the way into the cake and just stick up a little bit to give you just the right amount of room to put in the flowers.

You can use shorter pillars that I've used if you want less space between the pillars.

On the first link posted, Wilton's pillar page, the ones I meant are the "Hidden" Pillars. They are what you use to give a floating look and then you just fill in the space with the roses.
