I got Colette's book and she has a tiara in it, so I followed the directions and piped royal icing on parchment around a cookie can I had over a template. It's loosely patterned after hers, mine is different.

So I baked a 9" cake and it's on top of that, then a 6" cake as well. I am transporting the cakes tomorrow to a party and I plan on putting them on top of each other so these pics don't give the full effect but I'M OVER THE MOON EXCITED about how my tiara turned out. It's 6 inches wide and about 5 inches tall. So far so good, we'll see what happens after I try to transport it. I'm flying to Atlanta with these cakes in the morning.

Although the gold looks kinda flat in the pics, it's really shiny and really gorgeous gold over fondant. ( I still have bubbles though in the 6" fondant)

Both the cake and the tiara are perfect, I was trying to get the point across that even though you were commenting on your tiara, I was commenting on both. But I guess reading it again, it sounds like I am saying your cake is less perfect than the tiara and that wasn't what I meant. Ok, so both the cakes and the tiara are perfect, that is what I meant!
