You could use Royal icing with the thinest tip like a 00 or 0 or 1 or you can use piping gel...

I was told that Fondant and Buttercream dont play well together so I would say NO but I dont know for a fact I have never used it to see...

I have glued many pearls to fondant cakes with buttercream icing. They can be knocked off, but you can re-stick it easy enough!

If you HAVE to use butter cream

Just using buttercream instead.

Be aware that buttercream is not the best solution.

I've glued strands of fondant pearls to a fondant cake simply by wetting the area with some water. I use a fine water color brush to do it. The water will soften the fondant just enough to get sticky and stick together. Anther great option is the royal icing, but I would stay away from the buttercream.

If the pearls are dry and hard, water might not work. I use a small dot of royal to attach.

I have learned through my fondant decoration books that they're supposed to be glued with royal icing.
