I am planning a small cake project for my wifes birthday, and I need to paint some fondant with red luster dust, but I am having trouble finding it locally, and I am sure it will not arrive on time if I order online. Can I mix a small amount of red food coloring in with the colors I have available  (gold, silver), in order to create red? or will this mess with the dust? Thanks in advance.

No, it won't work properly.

If you can find powdered red food coloring or petal dust, you can mix that with pearl dust--white, gold, or silver--and get a very pretty product.
