I made this Alice in Wonderland Cake

and made the spout and handle out of gumpaste with toothpicks imbedded in the gumpaste then covered the spout and handle in fondant.  Everything seemed fine until I transported the cake.  I had the tea pot separate and put it on at the party for my granddaughter.  When I arrived the spout had fallen off.  I propped it up but was wondering how others adhere the spout.  I had no trouble with the handle just the spout.  Should I have used a longer wooden skewer or straw?

i think you answered your own question -- yes a nice long pointy skewer that you could poke into the board for some stability --

cute cute cake
