Wilton Preferred Fondant Won't Harden

I am trying to make a cowboy hat for a birthday. I am using the Wilton new Preferred Fondant for the brim, but can't get it to harden. I added tylose, but didn't help. Can someone tell me what to use for the brim of cowboy hat...
How much tylose did you add?
Pastillage, mexican paste, or straight gum paste would probably be best--they'd all dry faster--but with enough tylose, it should work, too.

I'd try adding in another 2 tsp., wrap it up tight in saran wrap, and let it rest for at least 24hrs. If it doesn't act like gum paste at that point, I'd up some pastillage.
I Lb. Sugar 10X/confectioner's sugar
3 Tablespoons of water
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin (1 envelope)
2 Teaspoons glucose
In a bowl put the water the lemon juice and gelatin and let it bloom.
Put in a double boiler and heat very gently just until dissolved.
Add the glucose unto the dissolved gelatin and mix well.
Remove from heat.
Sift the sugar and make a well.
Pour the mixture into the well and mix first with a wooden spoon and then with your hands.
Once you have a nice consistency, make a ball and put Crisco all over.
Put in a plastic bag and in an airtight container.
Let the paste rest for 12 hours. If refrigerated the paste should last 3 months. If not, used with 10 days.
AI've never used this exact fondant but I've done hat brims and what I do is drop my chunk of fondant into the cornstarch so it's covered and literally dripping with cs and knead it in, it's kind of messy but it will all incorporate and then repeat once or twice until I get the consistency I want -- works for me --
hope you have this worked out already -- best to you
Thank you all for your helpful comments. I like to have some fondant in my decorations as I think it holds color better than just gumpaste. Last night I made small samples of 50/50 gumpaste/fondant and 2/3 gumpaste to 1/3 fondant. I think the 2/3 to 1/3 will work well. Seems to harden and color is good.
Thank you again for all your comments.

What is this used for and why/when would you use it? I'm a newbie.
