Sour Cream Spice Cake
Serves/Yields: Makes 8 cups of batter
Prep. Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour +

This cake is nice and spicy. The brown sugar gives it a wonderful flavor and a lovely dark color.
1 yellow box cake mix
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup (16 oz.) sour cream
¾ tsp salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 ½ tsp. ginger
1 1/3 cup water
1/3 cup oil
3 tsp. real vanilla
4 eggs


Stir all dry ingredients together with a wire whisk. Add the remaining ingredients and beat on a low speed for 2 minutes. Bake at 325 for about 1 hour. Check after 50 minutes as ovens tend to be a little different.

I also mixed about 2 tsp of cinnamon into my BCF. The effect was really pretty and the taste was great.
