Super Easy Chocolate Cake

I have used this recipe for many years. It's extremely easy and tastes wonderful. It will fill a 9x13 pan and 1 - 6 inch round pan. It's great with or without frosting and is great for making sculptured cakes.
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
5 Tbsp. cocoa, sifted
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup boiling water
Pre-heat oven to 325F.

Beat butter, sugar, and cocoa until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Add flour and buttermilk alternately, beginning and ending with flour; blend well. Add boiling water; mix slowly until just combined. BATTER WILL BE THIN, DO NOT ADD FLOUR. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 45 minutes.
