Category: Pound Cakes, Yellow Cakes
Difficulty: easy
A good pound cake recipe from scratch. This is great served with fresh fruit and ice cream.

2 1/2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
5 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch salt
1 cup milk

1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 10 inch round tube pan.

2 In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir until just blended, then pour into the prepared pan.

3 Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted, comes out clean. Cool before removing from pan.
