Books We Love 1st Birthday
Books We Love 1st Birthday
Uploaded By: meihana
This was my son's first birthday cake. The entire cake was "smashed" on one side to look like he had crawled up it to reach his smash cake (the top tier). Each tier was made for a favorite bedtime book: The bottom is Goodnight Moon with lines from the book printed and illustrated around the tier. The next is "I Love You Through and Through" again with the main line printed and the teddy bear from the book. The final tier was "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish".

This is absolutely amazing? I have never done a topsy-turvy cake and don't understand how this stays upright. And the printing is perfect. Incredible work.

OMG! How this cake got its balance? I've seen other topsy-turvy cakes but they always seem balance out against gravity but this one is one-sided! Even the top looks like slipping off the stand! Amazing! Shocked

Fantastic ! I don't usually care for topsy turvy cakes but this one has a purpose and you carried out the reason for it perfectly. The little figure has the innocent look of a one year old too.

Thanks so much! I hot-glued dowels to the top cake plate, covered them, then laid the smash cake down on the board. The pillars are cut so that two of them are shorter. The three base cakes are cut like topsy-turvy, but all on one side. I also cut slashes into the font to simulate places where the cake would sag and smash if a boy climbed it!

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE this cake!!! One Fish Two Fish was the first book we read to Jacob and Goodnight Moon was another. I was so excited when I saw this cake that we're doing something similar for our sons. Thanks for the idea. I JUST LOVE IT!
