This cake is beautiful! Did you use the whole cake from the sports ball pan or did you cut it in half? Also, I have never used fondant, do you think I could create this type of cake using just butter cream? If not, could you tell me any tips for making fondant or a good recipe for making fondant? Thanks!

Thank you so much for the compliment and my apologies for the delay in responding to you.  For this cake, yes, I used the whole sports ball pan, as well as the mini ball pans.  I just cut some off the bottom of one half so they would be stable and not roll around.  I don't think you could make the dress from buttercream and get it to drape that way, unless you used rolled buttercream (I've never tried rolled buttercream but I'm sure you could Google recipes).  I've tried making fondant and honestly, preferred to buy it, since I was using it so much.  For me, the best brand is Satin Ice (tastes way better than Wilton's).  If you have a Jo-Ann craft store, you can buy small boxes as well as 5 pound buckets.  Come to think of it, I think they have a different brand (can't remember the name now, it's been a while) but it is the same as Satin Ice.  I think the label is pink and black?  Go to their website if you don't get a weekly sale paper, get a coupon and you can buy it at a discount!  That's what I used to do : )  This way you can at least try it out without making a big financial investment.  Again, if you want to try your hand at making fondant, I think Google would be your best bet.  Let me know if you have any other questions!
