Kitchenaid Mixer

Kitchenaid Mixer on Cake Central

This was my entry for the cake show in Austin this weekend - I got 1st in the Adult Intermediate Sculpted cakes! Talk about shocking... it was very nearly a disaster but I ended up salvaging it. The top part of the mixer and the very bottom of the base are rice krispies, and everything in between is cake. The "batter" is royal icing.

Wow! Just love it - a big congratulations to you for 1st place, it is certainly deserved. Thanks for sharing your technique on how you made it - structurally it must have been really tough.

LOVE IT! You rocked it! Very neat idea! I would never have thought to do a KichenAid cake. We all use them and abuse them. Great cake.

Thank you everyone! It was a disaster because after assembling the bottom half Thursday, I woke up Friday morning to find the bowl slowly tipping forward and cracking at the base. However, since I'd planned to have dripping batter, I think it actually worked to my advantage! I was able to cover up the cracks and flaws with the batter and sugar, which ended up just giving the cake more "character" in the end!

Yahoo, what a perfect CC cake! I especially love all of the PS (or flour) that landed all over everything. It's awesome!
