I am not sure what gum glue and whether this is the same thing but take a little clump of fondant with a teeny bit of warm water and mush it up with a fork or some implement...till it is the consistency of pablum...that is a super duper glue and I used it on my polar bears wearing sweaters cake in my gallery..it works well.
Good luck!

I've read that equal parts meranque powder and water makes a good "glue" for fondant, but haven't tried it myself. |

I agree w/ JaneK, a fondant/water paste holds better than plain water. |

Like several said: fondant/water is a great glue. Just use a palette-knife and mix it on a flat sureface untill itīs so creamy that you can add it with a brush to the parts.
If you use only water just dampen the parts. Using to much water makes it slippery.
Good luck! |

I use thin royal icing to attach the hair on the angels in my gallery.
I would reccomend that you tint it a bit if it will at all possibly be seen.
Good luck.

I learned to use small amounts of piping gel to hold things together from Marsha Winbeckler in class at Cake Camp.

steph11sb,
For attaching arms I use a small piece of dried spaghetti as well as the sticking agent helps hold it together (see this other post for a pic)

Also the pose of the figures can affect things are you working against gravity? I usually try to pose mine so that there is extra support ie. the hands touch to the body or each other or something for extra support (and I stick them there)

Thank you all for your help...I went with the egg white idea, and it worked great!! Everything stuck perfectly!...Maybe next time, I'll try to use the fondant/water mixture and see how that goes. I have a photo posted of the figures if you want to check them out. They're not perfect, but it's a start. |
