(Thought I already posted this but it never showed)
I'm a newb and I am trying to make a stand up flat sihlouette <sp> for the top of a bday cake for my dad. It can be supported with picks on the back and down into frosting (and I can make it out of sculpey but that wouldn't work icon_smile.gif..)..anyway I don't know if it should be made of gumpaste only (it doesn't have to be really thin) or mixture of gumpaste and fondant or chocolate...any help would be greatly appreciated and I hope this shows up this time!
Thanks

I'd use just gum paste, personally. And give it plenty of time to dry. I also use Sculpey A LOT for toppers - I love it because I know it won't break at the last minute causing me too much heartache! icon_smile.gif

Any of the three mediums you mentioned will be fine.
IMHO choco transfer will be the most breakable. Fondant can become very soft if the weather is rainy icon_sad.gif GP alone is fine but I most likely would use a mix of gp & fond.

Thanks, I thought about going the sculpey route but I think for this one I need it to be all sugar stuff...icon_smile.gif I will use my sculpey skills though..lol

Thank you for replying, so would a 50/50 mix of GP and Fondant give me a stiff sort of card board result. I am thinking about 1/8th inch thick would be fine.

I promise this won't happen again!
