Hi all,

I used RI to attach pieces of gumpaste and it didn't work that well. Melted choc was not the best choice for this project either.

I have heard of an edible glue using tylose. Went to find it at Micheal's and no luck! Would I have to order on-line. Is it hard to find? Can I make a good edible glue at home without using tylose?

Thanks for your help! icon_biggrin.gif

Are you attaching gumpaste to gumpaste or to something else. I break off little pieces of gumpaste, let them soak in a little bit of water long enough to soften, mix it up. The consistency as I was taught should be about the consistency of snot. That makes a great glue for gumpaste to gumpaste.

You can order it on line - it's fairly inexpensive, but then you have to pay for shipping. It does make good edible glue though. Another trick that my Wilton teacher taught us was to take some very small pieces of fondant or gumpaste and put it in some warm water. I would say a few tablespoons. Let it sit for several hours until it dissolves and you have great glue.

Thanks for the suggestions re: soaking gumpaste and using that as glue. I didn't know about that and it would have been perfect because it was gumpaste to gumpaste. Well, for next time...

Do you have tylose? If so, dissolve 1/4 teaspoon in 2 or 3 tablespoons of warm water...it will get pretty thick so add a bit more water if needed...should be about as thick as corn syrup.

Bottle up and use a small brush to apply it. It keeps for months.

you can also take a bit of gumpaste or fondant and mix with a little bit of water and microwave for about 15 - 20 seconds and mix...be careful not to scorch the fondant because then it doesn't form a gluey (technichal term) consistency... good luck!
