IS there a good way to save a cracked cake or should I just rebake? I'm making a checkerboard cake for a friends marquerade party tommorrow and I got over excited and wanted to make sure the circles went through the pan so I took it out to early and it cracked I dropped it back in the pan as soon as I saw it crack but I just don't think it will stay together if I still ice it... what do you guys think

I think it depends on the crack and the design.
for a single tier straight cake, I have iced a crack layer and it was fine.
again. it was a simple round cake - not required to bare any weight.

its fine to have a cracked cake - idf its falling into pieces, then thats a no, but if its just like halved, i wouldnt worry.
if its tiered, the weight goes on the dowels, not the cakes. just make sure the dowels dont go in the cracked bit.
id stick it back together with bc and go for it. but it does come down to a judgement call. if u will b freaking out, and have time, then rebake.
xx
