...BUT, I think I redeemed myself. First of all, I've read some threads where people advise to use the store brand shortening, so I was excited to find some that was really cheap (mistake). Once i got started i realized it was not VEGETABLE shortening, but made with meat fat....LOL...once i added all the sugar it was not only gritty, but something felt like meat in my teeth. I think I was able to redeem it, though. I took out about two cups, mixed with 1/4 block of cream cheese and about 1/2 cup of whipping cream and some meringue powder and beat the tar out of it. It came out much better! I used it to frost a coconut cake with lots of coconut on the sides. I refused to throw it out without trying something else first. So I can use the rest, I just need to beat it with whipping cream. I don't think it will ever crust, though. That's okay.

Wow! What a save!!! You've got more guts than I do. I'd probably sit there calculating all the money I just threw away. Glad you were able to improvise and use it! icon_smile.gif
