I have to get a fondant sheeter.. for my health. Because of my fibro, I just can't keep rolling that stuff out. It's killing me.
I have no idea what to look for.
There are different kinds of rollers, widths, brands etc...
what do I look for, what do I ask?
any advice is good.
I want to be able to cover up to 16 inch square...
HELP! |

No advice, but I'm anxious to see responses. It'll be a long time before I can justify such a large machine, but I see it every week on cake boss and I LUST. |

Hey Sharon,
I have the 36 inch Somerset sheeter. I love it. I am short and I have fibro too, and it was all I could do, to roll out fondant for large cakes. My sheeter saves me hours of rolling every week. That is a great way to justify the cost, it was like hiring someone to roll for me ; }
I use it for small stuff too. It is also, easier to make long strips than using a pasta machine. Your fondant doesn't really dry out like when you roll it. You will use less fondant as the thickness is uniform and thinner.
Do you want me to go on....?
I called Somerset direct to order it. |

I went to the Somerset web site, they have a video showing how the fondant sheeter works....looks like it works great! Didn't see any prices, I'm sure you have to call them for that info. |

I hope you can find what you are looking for! i can relate, as I am having quite the bad fibro attack today and not looking foward to caking later. I will be interested to see what you end up choosing. |

They start around $4000...however look on ebay and at other used equipment places because you can find them for less. I think they bigger one is around $5K. From what I understand, the somerset is the way to go. And if you are going to invest, you might as well get the bigger one.
Good luck!! I would LOVE one of those! |

I need the 30 inch one and the somersset seems to run 4200-4500 with shipping. that's a huge chunk of change for me ( or anyone)... I am going to see if i can find a used one, but so far no luck on the net finding one.
Thanks for the help guys! |

Have you looked on Ebay? There's 7 of them listed right now. |

I would like to know all that too! I have carpal tunnel and some days it's all I can do to brush my hair, much less roll out fondant |

I've got to stop coming to this website! I have absolutely no excuse to own one of those things - but it's a tool and I can't resist them. But that's too pricey to even fantasize about without real need.
I'm sorry to hear that Sharon and so many others suffer from conditions that make it difficult to carry on with caking. |
