Thank you for the pics. I love your bassinet cakes. Can't wait for the opportunity to make one myself.
Thanks for your compliments. I'm going to bump this just once in case someone missed it and wants to see it.
OMG!!! I cant believe it, I just posted asking if this could be done like 2days ago, and everyone kept saying didnt think so, I couldnt see why not, if there was not weight on it except for icing.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! But Im using it on the carriage as a hood, and adding some icing and maybe a few ribbons of lace...
THANK YOU!!!!
You should put this under the articles of how to's....
Thanks for sharing!
what if you taped it with blue masking tape then before you let it cool you pulled it off to get a sharp edge?
Thanks so much for sharing, April.
I'll be sure to offer this tutorial whenever a member requests carriage/bassinet help.
P.S. You make gorgeous cakes.
Thanks for the compliment on my cakes JanH. With all the talent on here, I'm just glad to be able to offer help once in a while. You made me blush...
cakes look great!
I I guess if you get it "good enough" you can always cover it.. i just didn't visualize it lol.
thanks again
Thanks for sharing. I was really trying to figure out how to do a bassinet hood. I guess this technique will also work for pastillage paste.
Thanks for sharing!

I'm sure that would work great. I just hadn't thought of it. I always cover it in some way like this:
jammjenks how do you do your writing so good, My writing is crooked and plan ol Ugly , Thanks
Many have asked for instructions on making a baby bassinet hood. I did one of these cakes last night and took pictures along the way. I hope I post them correctly.
You will need white candy melts, a bowl, spoon, and 1/2 of the Wilton ball pan.
Hello just a question, what tip did you use on the last pink bassinet you did?? Its great, and how do you get your writing so beautiful mine looks like a 3yr old did it (:
Thank you
1957-I think the ruffles were a petal tip#103
Thank you both for the compliments on my writing. You all think more highly of my writing than I do. To me it still needs improvement.
Don't put too much icing in the bag. Most of the time I will write with tip#3, because #2 seems too small and squiggly looking when I use it. I use a crusting bc and let it crust well so that if I mess up a letter I can just pick it off with a toothpick. Lastly (and most importantly) rest your elbow on something that will allow your arm to hover over the top of the cake. I use a jar of jelly, a candle holder, my Wilton tool caddy....whatever is around.
One more thing...if you are printing the letters (rather than cursive writing) find the center of the word/line and start with that letter. For example, if you are writing "Happy" on one line and "Birthday" under it, start with the first "p" centered where you want it...then finish the word, then go back and get the first of the word. "Birthday" is a little tricker because the space between the "th" is the center, therefore you'd start with the "h" a little to the right of center. Then finish as you did line 1. It helps me to eliminate the guess-work and make it look neater.
Does that make sense?
