I had two events this weekend and both cakes were square. I always have trouble when doing square cakes. After starting it seems that my icing gets soft and then doesnt hold up. I use sugarshacks icing....Which I love, but I am wondering if there is a different icing out there that is easier to work with that makes doing a square cake any easier. I have seen alot of peoples cake that they used IMBC and it looked great, is that the way to go...Please help, I have a 4 tier square coming up this week!!! |

I don't use a different icing for my square cakes I just take a little extra time to make the corners.
I know somewhere on here there is an article or forum post about how to make crisp corners. But I just use my usual butter cream. |

It's not that I have a probelm getting crisp corners, I just can't get the icing to work right for me. After working with it for a little while, it gets soft and doesnt hold it's shape. Then the cake starts to get too moist, and starts falling apart. And the icing gets crumbs in it. |

Do you have Sugarshacks buttercream dvd? She shows you how to get the crisp corners on the square cake. |

I've had simular problems too. The rest of the cake is great, but the icing doesn't seem to want to stick to the corners. It always comes off! I can always see the cake underneath....any help with that? |
