The Brite White or Angel White that I am speaking of is not an icing color or a product that makes icing more white. It is a white fudge base that adds flavor, volume, and gives you a less greasy icing. I found this info on a forum @ http//forum.kitchenaid.com and there is also a website listed there where you can purchase it.
I'm wondering if this will help all of us that are having problems with our icings since the crisco change. If it supposedly makes the frosting less greasy, it may get rid of that glistening effect that we are experiencing with crisco, and it's cheaper than switching to hi-ratio shortening.
I think I'll go ahead and order a bottle and try it out when I get it and I'll let you all know if it makes as big a difference as it claims.
It doesn't seem like many people use it or have ever heard of it. |

I use Brite White and can purchase it at my local cake supply store. From the limited experience I've had with it and the recipe that I use, Brite White needs to whip for a long time and it will make a more "whipped" buttercream than the crisco/powdered sugar buttercream. So, I don't use my Brite White recipe instead of my regular buttercream, but as a different kind of frosting altogether. It's yummy and there are a few bakeries in town that use it! |

Those of you who are still using the trans fat free crisco and having problems, I really recommend switching to a store brand. I've been using the walmart great value brand with good success. But recently DH grabbed me a couple tubs of the thrifty maid, boy did it make a wonderful buttercream. Very smooth, nice consistency. |

There is actually a forum on cc under Recipe Tips & Ideas that you can get the link from, since I can't seem to copy it here. The name of the forum topic is Brite White & Creme Bouguet.
I bought a can of Walmart shortening and it also has no transfats. I'm in MA, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Does each state have it's own laws on transfats or is it nationwide now?
[blocked].com sells Angel White which I guess is the same sort of icing base as Brite White. |
