Obviously I am a newbie...otherwise I wouldn't have to ask. My Wilton instructor told our class to use vanilla when making our fondant roses..to attach the petals to the bud.

My questions is.... what does everyone use when attaching their flower petals. I'm using vanilla cuz that is all I know to use, but I imagine it will get expensive to use all the time, plus it keeps evaporating out of the bowl.

I appreciate all the advice I can get...

Thanks,
Kim

You can use water - it just doesn't dry as quickly making it a bit harder to work with.

Oh - and you can make like a glue out of equal parts of meringue powder and water.

When I was going to school my chefs told us to use equal parts light corn syrup and water for glue.

I used vanilla. I put it in a clean new nail polish bottle. It makes easy application and slows evaporation.

Wow... I've never heard of using vanilla... I have always made gumpaste glue. Just heat some water, put some little balls of gumpaste in a container, and pour the water over the top. Let it sit on the counter over night, and stir it in the morning... It looks really slimy, not going with the more graphic description...chuckle... Razz But, I think you get the idea...
