i would like to print out some shapes, paste them onto a cardboard to make them thicker and stronger and use them as templates to cut out shapes in fondant.

what would you use to cut the fondant? will a sharp knife do? craft cutter? has anyone done this before?

thanks!

And exacto knife or a really sharp paring knife.

I read in another thread to coat your knife with crisco for ease while cutting.

Don't roll your fondant too thin and make sure it's not stuck to the mat before you cut.. use cornstarch or ps. You can also smooth the edges of your cut out by running the back side of a spoon tip(not the handle) around the design while it is on the mat. I found that trying to smooth the edges by hand makes the cut out get all out of shape and warped.

I use a paring knife most of the time.
