I just had to share this with all of you. I have been doing the research to starting a home bakery in Arkansas and my husband & I decided that when the time was right things would fall into place....Well I guess the time is right.
I was taking with a guy that works for the same place as I do and we were talking about what we did over the weekend and I mentioned that I decorated a cake for my friend's birthday. He stated " Hey you need to talk to my sister-in-law she closed down her bakery last year (he thougth) and has all of her "junk" stored in my brothers shop and he wants it cleaned out". I couldn't believe it. He gave me her phone number and I called her. He was right. She closed her bakery when the Wal-Mart supercenter with a bakery came to their town. She thought she would lose business and not be able to keep it open and also she was just baked out. We talked several times and she e-mailed me a couple of list of what she had. I couldn't believe how much stuff she had and she wanted to get rid of it CHEAP. We talked several more times before she finally said I'm not going through and inventory any more of it. If you want it it's yours for ...... get this $800. I was shocked and told her I would be there yesterday. My husband and I drove 160 miles to her house cram packed the back of our truck (you couldn't see out he back window) it was stacked to the top of the cap all the way to the back. I lost count on the boxes. We had to tarp it down tight to keep it all on the truck. When I got home it was just like Christmas morning in August!!
A partial list of what I received is
* 6 boxes of decorating books from various authors
* 3 sets of round cake pans
* 2 sets of square pans
* 2 sets of heart shaped pand
* 1 set of Oval, hexagon (may be two of some sizes)
* several character pans, sports ball, wonder, stand up bear, horse shoe
(the today's value of all of the pans added up to $779.00)
* 500 cake boards 8 & 10" round
* 250 cake boards 6" and bigger
* LOTS of cake boxes
* kits for childrens cakes ( I think my daughter counted 65 of them)
* Kits for baby shower cakes
* Wedding toppers
* a TON of tips in a storage bin
* all types of spatulas
* more fondant molds and mats than I know what to do with
and the list goes on and on.
I am so excited that my husband is working on my shop as I write. We are building a separate Kitchen to meet the requirements. A friend of his has given us the required sinks, another friend has given us doors and windows as well as some left over lumber from his shop he built. When thing get done I will post some pictures.
I know this was long but Thanks for reading
Soon to be
