I have a friend that wants a rum cake in the shape of a Wii controler. She wants rum cake and I am want to know if I can bake it in normal pans or if it really needs to be baked in a bundt/angel food pan? I could bake it in the bundt pan and then piece it together but I dont really want to do this. All feedback is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Nope, you can totally bake it in regular pans, I do that a lot if I am doubling or tripling the recipes for other cakes. I use a rum glaze as a brushing syrup rather than thoroughly soaking the cake as I would with a plain rum cake and it works great.

Yum!
