Hi,
We've just confirmed that the 4th Annual Cake and Sugar Art Show of Arizona will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at the Glendale Civic Center in Glendale, AZ. SAVE THE DATE!!!
We are already working hard on next year's show and hope it will be even bigger than ever! New rules and entry forms will be made available on the Westside Cake Club's website in the Fall.
We've received wonderful feedback from many who entered and attended the 2008 show and have taken into account changes that will be made regarding categories within division levels.
We'll be having demos throughout the day, raffle baskets and prizes and lots of vendors at the show again! The awards ceremony will be held at the end of the show. Medals and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners along with a Decorator's Choice, People's Choice and grand prize, Best of Show winner!
Everyone is welcome to enter no matter what skill level from pre junior to professionals. We're hoping to have a new division of "Specialty Wedding Cakes" where each entrant will not only decorate a gorgeous cake, but decorate their display table as well.
Watch for more info, judging criteria, new rules and entry forms that you'll be able to download online.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

The show is open to the public so everyone is invited! In previous years it was $3 admission. I would be happy to answer any questions so ask away! Feel free to contact me here or pm me if you like.
You can check out the Westside Cake Club's website where you'll find photos from the 2008 show. The new rules and entry forms are being revised now but will be available to download on that website later this Fall. http://www.freewebs.com/westsidecakeclub/

I just looked at the photos from the show. What fantastic works of art! There were some absolutely beautiful and interesting entries. I'm really looking forward to the show now! The location looks very nice as well. Will the show be there again?
The ideas and entries are so different than what are seen in Tulsa. That's that main show I've attended. Since I started attending smaller shows I've noticed that the work is fresh and wonderful. I love the smaller shows!
See you there!

The show will be at the same location, the Glendale Civic Center in Glendale, AZ as it's always been. However, we will have a bigger ball room next year which will be great to accomodate all the entries and people better and we're hoping to have even more vendors too.

I was so excited to find this post. I live in Arizona and I'm new to this fabulous world of cakes. I can't wait to see all the cakes in person. I will keep checking your website for info and rules. Maybe I can enter! Now mind you, I have made two cakes in my Wilton course I and II. LOL |

Oh yes I do want to do this again! I had such a great time last year.
Maybe this time I'll try just anormal wedding cake and start sooner than 2 weeks before the contest!
I was a little stressed out last year:oops: |

I just got back from ICES , which was my first ever cake show. I only did a one day pass, but really enjoyed myself. I am putting this show date on my calendar and am really looking forward to attending the Cake and Sugar Show. Hope to see you all there!

Bohnlo,
Not to put down our Arizona show in the slightest, but it's nowhere near what ICES is. We did have our biggest show so far this past Feb of 2007 and certainly hope next year's is bigger and better but again, it is nothing like ICES convention. We had vendors but only two were decorating related. And we had very short demos by members of our cake clubs. We are hoping to have a wedding cake competition though so hopefully that will be a big draw! Idealy as time goes by and we grow, we'd love to have the big names come to our show and have gazillions of entries too!
We are in the works to have a big name decorator be a judge! Watch for more info to come!
It would be great to have people from other states come to AZ!
