Is there a cream cheese icing that you can actually decorate a cake with? I mean decorating with decorating tips, making flowers, leaves etc.? |

I don't know about the roses or decorating thing, but I tried the crusting recipe here on cc and after trying to smooth it for 8 hours (yes I said 8 HOURS) I finally had to scrape it all off at 2AM and rush to walmart (thank god they are open 24 hours) and make a batch of buttercream. I swear I will NEVER use it again. If my client wants cream cheese they can get it as a filling ONLY!!
good luck |

I usually just use minimal buttercream or royal accents if I have to decorate a cream cheese cake. |

I too would love a crusting cream cheese! I have not had any luck with the recipes I have found so far what a waste. I agree with cariage...make it as a filling
If someone has a trusty recipe please share! |

I love the crusting cream cheese icing in the recipe section. I have never used it for flowers, but I have used it for wedding cakes, b-day cakes, etc. I use it for stringwork, borders...whatever I would normally do with buttercream. My customers love the taste (I do too!)! |

I don't know if this is already on here somewhere, but I make a crusting cream cheese that I have decorated with several times. I actually use it to make roses b/c it gives smoother edges.
8 oz cream cheese
4 oz butter
2 tsp vanilla
2# powdered sugar
Cream the butter and cream cheese. Cream in vanilla. Add powdered sugar. Hope this helps. |

No... laughing... If you search the RECIPE section using CREAM CHEESE under the FROSTING heading you will see a LOT of crusting cream cheese frostings. Browse around...it's fun!
I would not endorse this frosting if I had not personally used it on many occasions. I use SugarShacks smoothing methods and it works great. No problems. Adjust the powdered sugar for consistancy of decorations. Note that it gets a 4.7 Rating, which is not too shabby on this web site.
Happy Baking!

I had problems with that one actually. It tasted great, but I couldn't get it to crust to save my life. I used it on my pink camo cake. |

This recipe crusts well....
http://www.cakecentral.com/cak.....sting.html
I went through a ton of testing before I got it right because the client wanted cream cheese icing with a fondant look. It is listed under "wedding crusting cream cheese frosting" because I first developed it for a three tiered wedding cake with flavors of pumpkin, red velvet and chocolate. All complimented with cream cheese frosting. Since, I have done two shower cakes with the same recipe. Here are the pics and you can see that the borders and accents hold up fine. I have not tried flowers with it. But I always smooth using the melvira method with viva and a roller.

ps Thanks to Pat for using and for enjoying my recipe!!
