If you are serious ... well .... I'm in shock and not sure what to say.
Why would you have the cake on the floor, with a dog running around in the first place? If the dog's tongue didn't get to it, then the hair surely would have.
Maybe I have an 'incorrect' image in my head about the situation? If I do please correct me ... please! |

The cake was in a big box and I have a little dog,so I did'nt even think she could get it.But I guess she proved me wrong.She is a poodle schnauzer mix and is hypoallergenic so she does not shed. |

I noticed that the original poster removed most of the post since it was first posted so I guess it really isn't an April Fools joke. I think it is absolutely disgusting... Things like this make me realize that you really have to question whose kitchen you can trust.
It makes me nauseous thinking that wedding guests ate cake that was licked over by a dog. Of course the couple would have been devastated and angry, but I'm sure they would be ill if they knew what happened...
We all learn from our mistakes. No more cakes on the floor. My dog is not allowed near the kitchen when I'm in cake decorating mode. |

I have to agree it's definately unsettling to think about an entire wedding party consuming this. I can understand the panic and wanting to fix it, but the fact no one was told tells me someone knew it was unsanitary (to say the least).
I keep thinking about how much dogs like to lick thier..... ummm, 'cake balls'  . I guess this little guy has a more refined taste - 
Well, as posted earlier hopefully it's a lesson learned. Sometimes you have to accept your loss, and a dog licking the 1/4 of the icing off all 3 tiers is one of those times. As far as being a gift, it was certainly a nice thought ... but I believe after pooch got at it, it should have remained as a nice thought. Repairing the decorating doesn't repair the 'ick' factor. |

Nope, that's shy the shock and 'ick' reactions. The original post said something like this:
She was making the wedding cake as a gift for a friend. The cake was in a box, on the kitchen floor so she centre dowel it. She turned her back and when she returned the dog had licked 1/4 of the icing off all three tiers. She 'hiked' up her dress, dropped to her knees and fixed it liked it never happened. It also stated that she never told anyone about it, and they never noticed - I guess because the repair job was done so well.
I was shocked at the story, and I honestly did think it was a joke. Not sure the reaction she was expecting to get by posting on CC of all places. Anyway, I think she realized how disgusting and dishonest it really was, deleted most of the post and now just wants it to go away. I really hope it's sunk in how unsanitary and dangerous that could be. Count herself lucky no one consuming this had any pet allergies. Dog saliva (and whatever more was on it) is not something you would normally consider as part of a cake recipe, and probably wouldn't even consider it as a threat. |

ya know, if that were found out here in NC, she'd be fined out the wazoo. Heck, I can't have a home cake business right now because I have animals in the house. I'd never in a million years serve a cake that had been licked by one of them!!!! eeeeewwwwww!!!! |

This is so insane, I wish the friend she made the cake for is a member of CC. And came across the thread. That is more than disgusting. That is pure animalistic - good word?
This is inconsiderate and wicked, and, that is the simple reason why I do not have people do me favors. If I cannot afford it, I do not do it/ get it.
Wow - that really does churn my stomach. Yikes......
I would dump something if I saw an ant in it ---- a DOG licking it? NAST.....Y

Ick, what a horrific "gift". I'm not a drama queen so I hate to stir things up but that is just gross. If this was for a friend, I'd hate to see what you do to your enemies. Its tough to be humble, but I would bet you didn't have to eat that cake. They would have appreciated it so much more had you just told them. |

I hate to say it, because I live in a state where you can't sell from home...but this is exactly why those states have that rule. The few people that would do this kind of thing ruin it for the rest of us that would like to open legitimate home-based bakeries. In an actual store, at least the health department comes in and inspects every so often. Yeesh. I hope no one got sick off of it. |
