Ok, having a lot of orders lately where people want me to pick their flavors and I need some fresh ideas, I feel like I'm in a rut. So please share your favorite combinations with me, seems my customers are willing to try anything and I am bored with the same ole' combinations. If your ideas require a certain frosting, throw that in too!
p.s. your favorite fillings with WASC would be good too, lots of requests for that one!
TIA,
Kym

My new discovery is the Curd! This maybe history for you, But I never used it before. And for the first time made Mango curd to go with White Cake. Lovely!

The other one is Dolce de leche. I bought a jar and OMG! its yummy....... It goes with chocolate cake.

And also I too love to have more good ideas.

Besides chocolate cake with seedless homemade raspberry filling (My #1!!!!) Chocolate cake with homemade cream filling. I have a recipe for a really fantastic cream filling out of my great grandmother's 1941 Dairy Cook Book.

The chocolate cake I use is on the side of the Hershey's Cocoa Powder container. It is SOOOOOOOOOOO moist and GOOOOOOD!!! With either of those two fillings, OH YEAH!!! icon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gifthumbs_up.gif

I also have a cinnamon buttermilk chocolate cake that is dreamy. That with raspberry filling, blackberry filling, cream, or a milk chocolate ganache filling is wonderful.

Of course I do make other than chocolate. What about a lemon cream cake with lemon curd filling or a cream cheese filling? I have made those and they are wonderful.

I just made chocolate sour cream cupcakes with vanilla caramel creme filling that were to die for. I made them for my daughter to take to school for her birthday, my DH begged me to leave them at home and make something else for her class. The cookies and cream bc filling is really good too.

Chocolate cake with mini-chocolate chips, thick caramel filling (recipe on CC), layered with chocolate cheesecake filling.

WASC with chocolate cheesecake filling and raspberry filling.

Coconut cake with mango filling.

I make lemon cake following the WASC recipe but with BC lemon cake mix and creme bouquet or lemon extract. Great with cheesecake filling in combo with lemon curd.

Sure, here you go!

Lemon Cream Cake

1 cup butter softened
2 cups sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp lemon rind
3 1/2 cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups sour cream

*This is a very subtle lemon cream cake. If you desire a more lemony cake add more lemon rind or you can add a lemon extract in a minute amount. I just added more rind.

Grease and line baking pans with parchment paper and grease again.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla and lemon peel. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture alternately with sour cream.

Since everyone bakes at different temps for different lengths of time I'll just tell you that the original baking temp. for the recipe in three 9 " rounds is 30-35 mins. at 350!

It really is a good recipe especially with cream cheese filling and frosting!! icon_rolleyes.gifthumbs_up.gif

These all sound delicious. This morning on CBS Early Show they had a segment on wedding cakes. During the segment they talked about cakes and fillings. One was chocolate cake with orange mango filling...another cake had passion fruit filling. Here's the link to the segement if anyone's interested. They had some pretty cakes on there too. It takes a second or two to load and there's an internet commercial on first.

Here is the cream filling recipe:

1/3 C sugar
3 T cornstarch
1/4 tsp salt
2 egg yolks
2 C milk
2 T butter
1 tsp vanilla

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt thoroughly. Add egg yolks and beat well. Add milk. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add butter and vanilla. Cool. Filling for 3 layers!

This is delicious! Tastes just like Tapioca!!!!

YUMMY!
