Greetings, All!
Theresa here, the official moderator for the first Cake Central Cake Decorating Throwdown! Thank you for joining us here this evening.
The rules are simple -
Choose the cake which you think is decorated best from the photos below. Then go above this post and cast your vote for your favorite cake by choosing the radio button for the corresponding cake. Voting will commence immediately, and run for 7 days, until Saturday, March 29, at 6 AM DST, USA. The winner will be announced after 9 AM DST, USA.
The descriptions are as follows:
Contestant 1 --
First time GP roses, GP Cross and plaque, fondant and BC.. With some RI features
Contestant 2 --
12" base cake, 8's on top. I made the Cross, Roses, and Leaves of homemade fondant and gumpaste. Cakes are frosted in all buttercream. All 100% edible.
Comments and constructive criticism will be allowed in the body of the thread.
This poll will run for 1 week, with the winner to be announced on Saturday morning, April 29, after 9 AM.
And in case someone is wondering, I have decided to Not vote in this contest, since I already know whose entry is who's.
So to all of you who have been patiently waiting - I say
ALLEZ CAKE!
Enjoy -
Theresa |

Beautiful Cakes Ladies, Congrats!!, and let me say that you both did outstanding on your cakes. From the designs to all the decorations they are all amazing ladies.
WOW, I didn't think it would be this hard to chose, both cakes are decorated wonderfully.
God Bless & Good Luck to the both of you,
Sharon
p.s. Thanks to you both, for this throw down. It has been so much fun reading all the trash talk between the two of you (which I know was all in fun) to waiting to see these beautiful cakes. |

Both cakes are beautiful! Great job!
I love the colors and fondant decorations on the first one, but I'm really impressed with a cake iced in butter cream and done well! Such sharp corners and smooth icing...nice work! |

I only put one photo of each contestant's entry in because one of the contestants only submitted one photo for entry. I entered the photos which were taken at approximately the same angle, so that the view of each cake is similar to one another.

I agree with foxymomma on the picture glare... I'm ASSUMING that it's just iced smooth with the little border you see on the sides, but I don't want to miss something! I LOVE the dark blue roses... I've always considered flowers the "easy way out"...(You know, the supermarket cakes with random flowers for NO REASON... "We didn't want to take the time to figure out what you REALLY want, so we picked a generic cake with some yellow roses! Happy Birthday Dave!") But the more I see on here, you guys really elevate edible flowers to an art!
(So, where do I sign up for the taste test? ) |
