Here's the deal.
Today I had to carefully schedule out a TON of baking for the next week, starting Sunday. Saturday I have a wedding to do (flowers), so tomorrow and Saturday are going to be crazy as it is. I'm doing a lot of "samples" baking for photos, which will all end up going to an event next Friday night, along with a cake to feed 80.
So, no sooner had I decided on EVERYTHING I was going to have on my favors / baked goodies menu, plotted out the most reasonable schedule for baking / photographing next week, and figuring groceries on them all...
Got a call that I'm gonna be on the news mid next week. They wanna come by and see me in action at the kitchen I rent. Holy crap, right? I mean my week was scheduled down almost to the minute as it was..
So, that 80 person cake needs to be BIGGER and CRAZY. I was initially going to do a relatively plain but elegant fall themed wedding style cake. Now I've got the ideas brewing for something wild.
Anyway.. at the wedding show this weekend, pretty much every second person told us that my cakes were like "on tv" and "ace of cakes", what have you. I don't have cable, I've never seen a cake show in my life. Could use some inspiration! I know where I'm going with the theme, but it'd be cool to see some techniques the pros use that are really out there.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Anything really cool technique you've seen on any cake show? Anywhere I could SEE bits of these shows online?
Goin kinda nuts here. It's been less than two months since I decided I'd try offering wedding cakes! |

I don't know where to find clips on the internet, but I wanted to tell you that after looking at your cakes, you have NOTHING to worry about. Your work is awesome and speaks for itself. One day I hope to have just a smidgen of your talent! |

Ace of Cakes airs on Food Network - Duff's website is www.charmcitycakes.com - that's about all I can do to help. I like his site.
Week sounds busy and very exciting as well!!!
Best of luck - would like to see what you come up with. |
