Does this make sense I am trying to copy this beer keg cake by cakeconfections

http://www.cakecentral.com/mod.....&pid=66837

but not sure if 8" 4 layers will be tall enough to make a little beer keg portions is not an issue just thought this will be tall enough does this make sense or should I make it taller, also should I board in betweeen the first two layers and dowel?

If you want to make it 8 inches in diameter I would make it at least 12 inches tall. You want it to be taller than it is round to get the right look. You could always carve the layers down to give it right proportion too. I think 6 inches round and 10 inches tall would work too.

Treat it just like you would any tiered cake and use cake boards and dowel between the layers. If it's 8 inches round by 12 inches tall that's technically have a 3 tiered cake.

Good luck and be sure to post pictures!! Very Happy
