doing my first dummy cake tonight. i have the styrofoam wrapped in press and seal... just put fondant over it? i don't want to use buttercream as i need to keep this for a year or two for a display. can i avoid icing with royal? will the fondant adhere to the wrap????

If you wet the wrap with water first, your fondant should stick just fine. =)

I just spray the styrofoam with water from a spray bottle. Don't use too much or it'll make a goopey mess. You could probably also use piping gel.

By the way, you'll want to smooth the edges as much as possible too. You can roll the edges on your counter to soften them.

I've used piping gel or corn syrup on my dummies to get the fondant to stick. Smile

On mine recently, I tried the wrap, and it didn't go so well, so I just misted the dummy itself with water and stuck the fondant right to that. Seems to be holding up fine.
