doing my first dummy cake tonight. i have the styrofoam wrapped in press and seal... just put fondant over it? i don't want to use buttercream as i need to keep this for a year or two for a display. can i avoid icing with royal? will the fondant adhere to the wrap???? |

If you wet the wrap with water first, your fondant should stick just fine. =) |

I just spray the styrofoam with water from a spray bottle. Don't use too much or it'll make a goopey mess. You could probably also use piping gel. |

By the way, you'll want to smooth the edges as much as possible too. You can roll the edges on your counter to soften them. |

great, misting with a spray bottle of water it is! i actually contoured my edges with a sand paper block my hubby had in the garage... already looks like cake! lOL |

I've used piping gel or corn syrup on my dummies to get the fondant to stick.  |

On mine recently, I tried the wrap, and it didn't go so well, so I just misted the dummy itself with water and stuck the fondant right to that. Seems to be holding up fine. |
