I hope someone can remember the cakes I'm looking for. I saw them in the gallery and fell in love. Now I can't remember who made them and I can't find them again. The cakes are covered in fondant, but the sides are allowed to stay loose insead of being stuck to the sides of the cake. They are beautiful! Looks like a flared skirt instead of a cake. I just love the look.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about????
I'd appreciate knowing who did them so that I can tell them how wonderful I think they are and ask for permission to "borrow" a few techniques.

Thanks so much. I lurk, but haven't really posted until now. I really love this site, though! My night is not complete without checking in and looking at a few of your beautiful creations! You all set wonerful goals for us beginners and make us believe we can really do it!

Thanks,
Pudd

Just wanted to welcome you to CC! Thumbs Up! Do you have any more details of the cakes you're looking for? Was it a doll or bridal gown cake? Bed cake with a flowing bedspread? Or you could try looking in the Theme/3-D gallery for it.

I've done one like that. I love doing that kind because it's so easy!

Kristy!!! What a beautiful cake!! Some how I've missed this one!! I too love doing fondant this way!

Glad you finally came out of the lurking closit Pudd!!!! I have a Mother's Day cake in my gallery that has a look on the bottom tier like Kristy's here but it's only a few inches tall instead of the usual 4-5". It's SO easy to do this way! Hope you find what you're looking for!

Ok.... this recipe is very unscientific! First, I use the small recipe for MMF (doubled) for me this just works out beter than using the large recipe. I use the wilton white chocolate candy melts. I use one of those pyrex little dessert cups to melt them in and fill it about half way. I haven't counted how many I use, maybe nine or ten. After the marshmallows are melted I add the candy melts and stir, then add the powdered sugar. I don't think I've ever added all the sugar the recipe calls for, I just go by feel. People love the taste of this stuff. Hope that helps!
