Has anyone read or purchased Elisa Strauss's new cookbook, Confetti Cakes? I'm considering buying it this week - any reviews? |

I like it too. In the book she teaches how to make a baseball hat cake, a popcorn bag with realistic popcorn out of gumpaste and an old fashion tv cake. It's really a great book and I realy like it. She even has her cake recipe and cookie recipe i nthe book. It's a good book to get. |

I definitely would recommend it as well. My favorite cakes in it are the purse cake on the cover (not a small cake by the way) and the wine bottle in a crate. I wanted to attempt that one for a housewarming this weekend but ended up just doing a sculpted wine bottle without the crate. One thing that I noticed about some of her cakes is that they call for a TON of gumpaste and/or fondant. The wine bottle one was something like 8.5 pounds of fondant and 1 pound of gumpaste. Although a few pounds of that was just to cover the board. Still, yikes! |

I just got it for my birthday and it looks really fun. There are easy projects and more difficult ones. |

I really like the book. If the cakes are the kind you like to do, then you will be happy with the book. |

I wish instead of drawings there were actual pictures of how to make the cakes but otherwise it is a nice book.
