Okay, I've just got to ask ya'll this. Everytime I've ever colored my gumpaste purple, it's changed to a light blue. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there anything I can do to keep it purple? Sure would like to hear what ya'll think.

purples are famous for fading especially if in direct light.

Could you make it in white and chalk it or paint it when it's done??

It does do that, but where you can correct the color is with purple petal dust brushed on the dried gumpaste.

For the tiny carnations on my "Angela's B-day cake I colored my gumpaste with purple petal dust and the color stayed true.

I kneaded it into the gumpaste.

My gumpaste also turned blue. I did find though that my fondant didn't fade as much so maybe do a 50/50 and see if it fades.

I did a 50/50 gumpaste/fondant combo using navy blue and it turned to ash blue. Wasn't too happy with that.

Thank you everyone for your input. I was wondering if I had a bad paste or something. Fading in direct sunlight makes lots of sense. As far as the petal dust, I will certainly do that next time I use gumpaste and want it to stay purple. Thank you everyone for your help.
