Okay, I've just got to ask ya'll this. Everytime I've ever colored my gumpaste purple, it's changed to a light blue. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there anything I can do to keep it purple? Sure would like to hear what ya'll think. |

purples are famous for fading especially if in direct light.
Could you make it in white and chalk it or paint it when it's done?? |

It does do that, but where you can correct the color is with purple petal dust brushed on the dried gumpaste. |

For the tiny carnations on my "Angela's B-day cake I colored my gumpaste with purple petal dust and the color stayed true.
I kneaded it into the gumpaste. |

My gumpaste also turned blue. I did find though that my fondant didn't fade as much so maybe do a 50/50 and see if it fades. |

I did a 50/50 gumpaste/fondant combo using navy blue and it turned to ash blue. Wasn't too happy with that. |

Thank you everyone for your input. I was wondering if I had a bad paste or something. Fading in direct sunlight makes lots of sense. As far as the petal dust, I will certainly do that next time I use gumpaste and want it to stay purple. Thank you everyone for your help.
