I have left over cake from my daughters birthday party. I had seen a recipe somewhere for left over cake but I don't know where I have seen it. Does anyone have any ideas? It was a vanilla and chocolate castle cake.

Cake balls/truffles! If you aren't familiar with these, try doing a search. There are many recipes for this right here on Cake Central. icon_biggrin.gif

BTW, very pretty cake!

I am pretty sure it was cake balls. All you do is mash up the leftover cake into very fine pieces, pour in some creamer (I liked hazelnut coffeemate), mix it up and make small balls in your hand. Freeze the balls for about 30 minutes or so and then dip them in melted chocolate. Sometimes they are better than the actual cake because they are so moist. We call them cake bonbons in my house. Have fun!

You can do either cake balls which usually does not include the icing.

You can also make a recipe of Petit Fours. To use up crumbs and left over, you mix 2 parts cake and 2 part BC together until it's homogenous (your cake should be about like that!
Then you put it into a square or rectangle cake pan and freeze it. (I guess you could keep it that way for a few months and use as you need it),
When you need some, you take the cake out, cut out petit fours, ice with Buttercream, Soft Fondant or Ganache. Decorate it's great practice - Yum!
You could probably add different flavors to your mixture to help out or some flavored simple syrup if yo thought it was too dry. Just try a little bit of cake and mix it up and see if you like it. Best way to try it.

I just though, instead of putting it in a pan, I wonder if you could simply put it in a bowl and the next time you need to make a dam for a cake you use this mixture as a mortar since the recipe for mortar is 3 parts cake 1 part BC, that might work too.

Good Luck.

How about a trifle? In a clear bowl, place cake chunks, layered with cold pudding, and whipped cream. Chocolate shavings can go on top. It looks great, easy to make, and taste great too!

Jan H, thank's for compiling this list of Cake Balls, there are no many flavors.

I need to figure out a way to easily link to all these great links. Without getting lost!

Good Luck.
