I keep reading about the paper towel trick. What is it? How and when would you use it?

It is a trick to smooth your icing using Viva paper towel (because it has no pattern).

Basically you base ice your cake as normal. Either let it sit or stick it in the fridge for a bit to allow the icing to crust. And then, laying Viva over the icing, use your hands, a spatula, a fondant smoother, etc, to smooth out the icing.

It's a really nice trick to use if you are using crusting bc icing. It will not work if the icing does not crust.

HTH!

I can't get the paper towel method to work for me. Sad I just ended up using the water bottle method.
