I am asking to maybe save others from making the same mistake! My worst one was some store brand vanilla extract--the real thing not not the artificial stuff. I made some sugar cookies and they had a harsh metalic taste so I tried again and noticed the strange smell from the vanilla bottle. I threw it out. Also Wilton's fondant and ready to use icing rank up there. |

Wilton fondant. Hands down. But you know, for hobby bakers, the people have a lock on the market because we can't just get the other stuff by running out at the last minute. It does mold like a dream though. |

Have never bought Wilton fondant since I've heard so many bad things about it here.
The nastiest thing I've ever bought...Wilton clear vanilla and Wilton clear Almond. I didn't realize that they were not pure until after I used them. My icing had a terrible after taste and tasted incredibly artificial. I could not use the icing and threw it out along with the flavorings. NEVER AGAIN! |

What brand and where do you get your vanilla? I use wiltons and have really not had a problem with them but will try anything different. |

Wilton fondant!
They have to know how bad this stuff tastes...you'd think.
I just feel bad that people eat this on cakes and then will never try fondant again.
I bought some filling in a sleeve once that was really nasty. I'm not sure what flavor--bavarian cream, maybe? I threw it out rather than use it in my cake. |

Wilton fondant.
I just switched to Satin Ice and it works better and tastes good.
You'd think Wilton would work to improve the flavor. |
