I live in Montgomery County, TN. I would like to start a home business selling just a couple of cakes a month (I can't do too many due to family time). I have had some people inquire about pricing, then I never hear back from them. My questions are : What are your starting prices for sheet cakes, novelty cakes, and tiered cakes with buttercream or fondant. I told a lady $3.00 per serving for the cake in the link below (with scratch lemon and strawberry cake) and haven't heard from her. I can't compete with Walmart pricing either. Do you think that's too high? TIA

I'm in Tennessee and I think $3 per sounds good.
The link doens't work for me though. |

I never expect to hear back after I quote someone and about 75% of the time I dont. I think my prices are on the low end, but similar to the bakeries nearest big city. I refuse to lower them just for more business. Right now I am focusing on marketing to people who can afford my cakes. Hope this helps. |
