...and I'm not baking again for a month. The delivery went perfectly, which was amazing considering that it was 45 miles out of town, up steep hilly roads. I had borrowed my mom's station wagon and the poor old thing chugged its way up the hills at about 10mph. Despite the hills and the wagon being a stick shift, the cakes hadn't moved a bit inside their boxes. There was a whole house full of little girls watching me set up the cake, kind of fun. The friend who the cake was for is one of those people who leaves the design totally up to me...and just by coincidence some of the decorations on the cake matched the detail on the picture that was hanging above it.
I didn't realize how stressed out I was by the whole thing until it was over. I can't imagine how people do it all the time, or does the stress lessen with each wedding cake?
Anyhow, here it is: http://cakecentral.com/modules.....id=1408645 |

You did a great job! I'm not even close to making a wedding cake, but I know how stressful the two tier cake for class was... I can't imagine making a wedding cake! |

Fantastic job - the cake is gorgeous! And you're right - it complements the picture behind it beautifully. Congrats on getting that first big cake (and delivery) under your belt!

This is your 1st?????? Wow! It's fantastic.
Sound like your mom has the perfect delivery vehicle:)
It takes a very long time before the stress lessens. Some are a bit easier than others:) |

Gorgeous cake!! Your moms car sounds perfect, I am always telling my DH to SLOW DOWN!! I sometimes just like to deliver them myself so I can drive as slow as I want to. It took me a few cakes to get over the nervousness of it - I am always releived when it is all done and I have my cake pics headed home! |
