I would like to see a section in the Galleries for strickly buttercream decorating. I love to see the fondant covered cakes, but I only work in buttercream. It would be nice to have the pictures all collected in one place. |

I agree with you. Before I ever knew about CC, I only knew how to do buttercream cakes. I started feeling like the fondant cakes were most popular and that I needed to 'step up my game' so to speak. Honestly, I have done a few now and it's no big deal for me to make one. I am very glad to have learned the tricks of the trade from CCer's. They have been so helpful and are truly my best resources ever! However, I prefer to make a buttercream cake. I like that my roses and characters would be eaten and not set aside which is usually what will happen with the fondant( I've tried them all and the fondant deco is still set aside 90% of the time)It saves me money and time to not have to deal with fondant. The advantage for me tho, is that it's safer outdoors and around people who may touch or bump it. It's easier to stack and use your hands to handle it while doing so. Things like that. It does have a really nice porcelain look however and I like to use food markers sometimes and you can't do that with BC. I paint buttercream at times and have been happy with the turn out but it's like the difference between analog and HDTV viewing. I have made some really beautiful buttercream cakes and fondant would not have made them better. I do make buttercream cakes usually, So I would love to see more buttercream creations on here in their own category too! |

I would also love to see a buttercream gallery. I've tried several different fondants and I have yet to find one that I even remotely like the taste of, so I've ended up using buttercream all the time. |

It's funny....I'm fairly new to CC and just yesterday I was looking for a page or section that only deals with Buttercream. So, I concur....a section dedicated specifically to buttercream would be great!!!! |

I would agree-maybe the cakes for this section could still be divided based on type of cake; and then a link to a buttercream section as well to save on duplicate pictures |

How about we 'only buttercream' cakers start adding that as a tag to our cakes? I love seeing the amazing things done with just buttercream and there are a lot of talented people on here! |

joaaaann - sorry if this is slightly off topic but you mentioned "paint buttercream" are you talking about airbrushing or a different technique? I'm not familiar with "painting" buttercream unless its airbrushing. |

I would also love to see a buttercream gallery. I would also love to be able to learn how to do soooo much more in buttercream, and with a gallery for just that type of cake it would be so much easier to do that in one area ! |

I totally agree. I have no desire for fondant. I was at our fair the other day with my mom. We were looking at the decorated cakes and I was explaining to my mom that one of the cakes she was looking at was fondant. I explained fondant to her and she oh I don't like that. Chewing frosting. My mom and I love buttercream. We love to eat it out of the bowl. Buttercream decorating is my love.
Another year at the fair I overheard a lady saying about a cake, that cake has that awful chewy icing on it. So there are those out there who feel like some of us do. |

I actually love fondant, and I'm learning to work with it. But I also love buttercream, and it's sometimes hard to tell which is which in the galleries. I think it would be great if you're looking for ideas and know already that you will be using fondant or buttercream and faster and easier to search out your pics. |

I have only done about five cakes in all (a couple of pics I haven't posted...) but I have come to the conclusion that I want people to be able to "really" eat almost everything the cake is made from (with a couple of exceptions for some things, of course)
I will definitely start tagging my pics from now on with "only buttercream"...good idea! |
