Good Luck, Kim! If it wasn't the same month as our Cake Show, I'd definitely try to make it! |

I just got my save the date card in the mail. I'm *definitely* going to be back again this year! I already have about ten ideas for what I want to do. I just have to decide which I want to do the most *LOL*
I really hope the wedding cake competition happens. That would be loads of fun! I do have one suggestion/request to pass on...is there any chance this year that there will be separate judging categories for cookies and other kinds of non-cake sugar art entries? It would promote more entries for those items, and there's less chance of them being lost in the mix like a couple of the decorated cookie entries from last year were. |

Hi Cee Tee,
Yes, there most certainly will be a "non cake" division at next year's show. This will include everything not made of cake such as gum paste flowers, gingerbread houses, candy, cookies, fondant figures, cocoa painting, gelatin, pulled and blown sugar, etc.
While each entry will be judged on it's own merit based on a 100 point scale, all those non cake entries are in the same division regardless of the medium they are made of. Besides the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each division, there will also be a best of division winner in each division too!
And yes, the Specialty Wedding category is going to happen!!! I'm so excited about this! I really hope everyone will enter!

Same here I now know for sure what I'm going to do for the wedding cake competition! And double yay for there being a sugar arts division!!! That's the stuff I really want to enter!
Oh man, it's gonna be a slow winter *LOL* At least there's still the State Fair in the meantime. |

Can decorators from other states enter? I recently returned to California from Arizona after living there for a few years. I do go back and visit friends and such regularly. |

Of course!! Anyone can enter! We'd love to have out of state entrants and would have happy to have you join us!
We're hoping to be bigger and better every year so by having people from all over the US come to Arizona, this is a great way to make that happen. Heck, if someone from another country wants to enter, please do!!

Not for me. I am going to be in Texas around that time to take classes from Aine2, so I am gonna skip the state fair this year. |

I have had a lifelong love affair with cakes, but am just getting into decorating and will start my Wilton I class in a few weeks. How wonderful to know what great events we have going on right here in the Phoenix area, and I can't wait to check out all of your beautiful and creative cakes in February! |

Kim -
Great to see your post about the AZ show! Sounds like a great opportunity for folks to show cakes, teach and take classes, and be vendors! |

Speaking of classes - I am planning to have a class on Sunday, February 9th. Here is the link to the thread with more information. http://www.cakecentral.com/cak.....owers.html
I am really looking forward to going to Arizona! I haven't been there since I was a kid (that's been a while).
Hope to see you there.

Just letting you know that the venue for the class has been changed so the price is now at $125 for a one day class. It will be the Sunday after the show.
Please let me know if you are interested, class space is limited.
Thanks,
Michele |
