I'm trying to make some furniture pieces/ crib and and the book I'm using says to use pastillage. I'm wondering if I can use gumpaste instead or if there's a really big difference between the two.

Hmm that makes sense, but I'm wondering if its necessary.... I wonder how you determine which one to use.....basically I don't have it and I'm not sure I have time to mess around with recipes.... but I have a bunch of gumpaste that I'd be happy to use if I could...
I just don't have time to screw it up and try a second method either....ugh how do these things always seem to sneak up on me?

If it's just pieces you are putting on top of a cake i don't see any reason you need to use pastillage. I only use pastillage for structural pieces (cake stands, showpieces, etc).

Thank you all for the help - I'm going to try the gumpaste. I'll let you know how it turns out!
