your link to the website worked just fine, I meant to say that the link for the rules and entry form on big e webpage was a dead end.I called the woman in charge of this and she never called me back so i'm going to try to call her again tomorrow.

I was out in Western MA for a family reunion this past weekend, and saw a brochure at the hotel! I got so excited until I realized that the LATE entry forms have to be in by 8/15. Sad That's not enough time for me to gather up my courage to enter a competition.

So, finding this thread today got me wondering if any CC'ers are heading to Springfield? Have any of you signed up?

I'm down in Fairfield county CT, I go to the Big E every year and so I was pretty excited when I saw info on it.By the time I got the rules emailed to me I saw that you have to use real cake no dummys and since i've got about an hour and half drive to get there I can't do it because theres a good chance i'd spend all that time on something that wouldn't even make it to Springfield. Take pictures and share them to you guys that are competing cause i'd love to see them! Thumbs Up!

celestecakes78, I'd be in the same boat. Springfield would be just under 2 hrs for me. I thought briefly about baking, crumbcoating, and freezing the layers at home, pack 'em in a cooler, then finish the job with supplies in a hotel room. But, honestly, it seems like a little too much work.

I wish I could even just go that day to see the competition, but I'd have to take the kids out of school. Hey! Maybe it could be like a field trip! "Dear Teacher, I'm taking my son on a life experience field trip that involves a lot of frosting."

Good luck to all who entered!! Thumbs Up!

Mary Beth - you will be fine driving with the cake for an hour and a half. I will be making the drive that long as well from MA.

My 6 year old entered and so did I and I hate to say it but I haven't even BAKED mine yet!!! I am just SOOOOO NOT inspired at ALL! I have never been to the Big E and with the theme being "Fun at the Big E" that makes it tough. He is excited, has his design and will finish his when he gets home from school today and I will either just blow off mine, or work on it all night. We will have to take the kids out of school a little early to get there in time to get our cakes in by the 3:45 deadline, but what the heck. I was bummed it was on a Tuesday, but DS was excited about it.

So mine may not be spectacular, but oh well - maybe I will get good ideas for next year. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear 'em LOL! Very Happy
