Is anybody else going to this event? Anybody competing? Just curious, thought there would be a lot more responses to this thread |

I think I am going to go check it out, let me know if anyone wants to meet there! I have never been to a cake "event" before!

I guess I'll see you guys there! (I'm also competing, but it is my first cake event/competition--so I'm just hoping not to embarrass myself.) |

Don't worry, it's my first competion also, but thought it would be fun, and besides, it gave me an excuse to go home and visit my parents!
So it seems that there are at least a few of us going to be there! That's terrific, but how are we going to know it's us? Any ideas? |

That is so sweet of you to offer to help!
I think I 've got every thing covered (knock on wood, fingers crossed). My mom is babysitting for the day and I don't think she'll bring the baby out, I'll check for sure. But set up is from 8-9:30, so I'll be there early... They kick us out for the judging from 9:30-? and the open house activities don't start until 11:30.... so a late breakfast/early lunch or coffee sounds great to me! How about everyone else? I don't know how long I'll get to stay, although I'm sure my mom will love to watch the baby all day(as long as he's behaving), lol (she hasn't seen him for a while).
A ribbon sounds like a good idea, but it would have to be something that stood out, so that we would notice it. (maybe red or hot pink... neon green?) |

I'm going to wear a neon pink AND green ribbon! You'll know its me for sure! How old is your baby? I've got one myself! Jonah is almost 4 months. Julian and Abby are 2.5 and 1.5. It's pretty much up to them how long I get to stay as my husband will be watching them all alone. (hahahahahahahahahah!)
Anyway, I'm not too familiar with where there is to eat around there since I have yet to venture too far from my own 'burb. I'll look into it and post some suggetions. Cake fun here we come! |

Wear both? That sounds great to me, lol, that combination is one of my favorites right now!
Your poor hubby hahaha, I should say I feel sorry for the poor soul, but mine hasn't ventured into watching our son for more than a couple of hours alone yet. My poor mom She hasn't taken care of a baby for more than a couple of hours for over 20 years! But I'm sure she'll do fine....(as long as the house isn't burned down and there are no broken bones or other serious bodily injury, I'll count it as a good day) Liam is 17 months. He's great... but he's been teething. Managed to cut 6 teeth within a few days, and still has two getting ready to pop through.. And of course four were molars, so he's been super cranky. I just hope these last two are done before the end of the week. (We're traveling to Alabama for my grandmothers funeral and will be meeting my family there before coming back up to Indiana) I'm not looking forward to traveling with a cranky baby.
But anyhow! lol Gotta run, it's laundry day, and have a vehicle inspection and doctor's appointment to get ready for!
Look forward to hearing those suggestions! (I might try a yahoo! local search to see what pops up, I heard the school is in or near a strip mall, so there must be something close by)
I'll get my pink and green ribbons today! |

I'll see if I can find some ribbon! I actually joined the contest late myself--DH said he didn't think we could make it, then of course decided later we could! I just barely made the deadline, so I have a lot of work ahead of me the next couple of weeks.
Good luck, T-Bird! I'll look forward to seeing you and Stephanie in a couple of weeks! |

Thanks KonfectionKonnection, and good luck to you too! Have you pulled your hair out yet? (I know I have, lol) Mostly over scheduling issues... (as in nobody would help watch the baby while I worked!) But we have it figured out now. I'm trying to finish as much as possible over these next couple of days because we're leaving Saturday for Alabama then coming straight up... Heaven knows I don't want to make a mess out of my parents house trying to finish this cake!
Looking forward to seeing you to! |
