I need to know if piping gel holds its shape. For instance, if I decorated a sheet cake to look like honey comb, and put honey colored piping gel on the edges of the cake to look like honey running out, would it hold its shape? Or would it just run all the way down to the cake board? I am looking for something to look shiny and wet like honey and I just don't know how to do it with anything else. Anyone with an idea?

Using piping gel sound like a great idea, but I haven't really tried it on the sides. What you can do is to try to use it on a dummy before you do the actual cake.

I've used piping gel on the sides of cakes before and had no trouble with it running. Should work well for you. Sounds like the cake will be cute.

I would think it would be fine. Mine's pretty thick in the container, it reminds me of a not so stiff jello. Almost that fake fat. Ok, I know that's gross, but it has that color in the container.
