This bit gets my goat:
"We are very proud of the success of the wide variety of the wedding cakes we design. Cakes can be specially ordered by the customer, and a tremendous amount of creativity and individuality go into the making of each cake"
Yeah - MY creativity!! Grrrrrrrrrrr. |

I'm normally just a lurker, but I just wanted to tell how beautiful your cakes are, Emma. I know it really stinks to have your pictures stolen and someone else take credit for your work, but your cakes are so amazing, I can almost see why! I hope you get it worked out!
God Bless.

Joannek, Who was the person who got upset with someone doing a bouquet of flowers ? It startled me. I'm just getting going and don't want to infringe on anyone. I did a bouquet of flowers from inspiration after attending a sugar class of Minette Rushings Custom Cakes Savannah GA. I was unable to recall the cake exactly & other CC's sent me sources of what i was looking for. I sent a note to Minnett & pic after the fact (mine was different but basic design of Minettes) she sent me a note & was very sweet. I hope the other pics weren't the one your talking about. Ugh!
Here's my pic |

Emma,
Most of your cakes are in my "favorites", so I can see how tempting it would be for someone to steal your photos!! (I LOVE the white wedding cake with tall tiers and fondant scrolls around the top edges of each tier!)
I just wanted to briefly comment about the watermarking and photoshopping. Cakes as gorgeous as yours are worth the time with photoshop, and it only takes a few minutes--not hours--to remove a watermark. So yes, while it does deter plenty of people, the ones who want it bad enough will try to steal it anyway.
Like you, I just cannot believe how many people are out there who have the b***s big enough to post them on the internet, claiming to be their "unique" works of art!

kcjc,
It was Ron Ben-Israel. It wasn't just a bouquet of flowers but a whole cake he did.
I've never taken a class from him and I hear his work is lovely! However, I also hear he can a be a bit unfriendly at times too. |

I haven't read the entire thread, so if this has been covered already, forgive me. But HOW does one watermark their photos??? I've seen that term bandied about for a while now and I am clueless on this point. Could you please enlighten us? Thanks! |

Well, a little off the subject, but I figured instead of commenting on every single cake in emmas gallery i would just say that those are some of best cakes I've ever seen. WOW! Ok, I'm done now. |

My hubby put my initials on the bottom corners of my photos and they are still on the pics on her website...even using the names I use, just took them straight off my site, even though my site does say it is copyrighted, blowing away her "copyright free" theory.
My son is my web designer and host, I just sent him a priority email, will see what he says. I think his wife might get upset if I called him as midnight! |

Cake queen - contact her and ask her to remove your images, she's removed mine now and sent me a sniffy email about how I should add copyright. I've also emailed Colette Peters and Debbie Brown so hopefully they will email her to.
I said that it wasn't ok to use someone elses images just because they're published in a book (which she claims it is) and that I'd also contacted CP and DB. I suggested she might like to try designing her own cakes instead of using someone elses ideas as her own.
I also said I belonged to a very large cake community who would be watching... |

My son sent her a very formal, scary, letter saying that she must take my cake pics off. I read the letter and WOW, he worded it so well!
Thanks for bringing the topic!! , I would have never known!
I am still in shock! |
